A Journey from Haight Street to Jerusalem

Aryae Coopersmith was co-founder of Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach's House of Love and Prayer in San Francisco in 1968. The "House" became an historical milestone in the religious and spiritual history of 20th century Judaism, and part of the development of the American New Age spiritual movement.

Together with his wife Wendy Berk, Aryae teaches and leads Torah Circles, an approach to studying sacred texts where people at all stages in their spiritual journeys learn from each other and build sacred community.

In his professional life Aryae is founder and organizer of the HR Forums, whose members are the human resource executives of the San Francisco Bay Area's high tech and biotech companies. Members share perspectives with each other, CEOs, business authors and academics, about the issues and trends shaping the future of work. He founded the HR Forums in 1992 together with Tom Peters, co-author of In Search of Excellence. Aryae is author of the on-line Silicon Valley column that ran in the San Jose Mercury News during the dot.com era, called The Future of Work.

Aryae has a B.A. in English Literature and Creative Writing from California State University, San Francisco, and an M.A. in Humanistic Psychology from California State University, Sonoma. He currently chairs the Open Mike Writers Night at the coastside community of Half Moon Bay south of San Francisco, where local authors read their work to each other and to the public.
